This season was about a woman who fell asleep on the beach, and then stood up, dusted the sand from her clothes and wandered off. We created a casing to fill with sand so we could mist the girls with a light glue and have each model lay down in the box before walking on stage. To fill this basin with sand, we were calling shops in both Paris and Antwerp in search of perfect beige sand; similar to the sand of a beach. There was not a single stockist selling this kind of sand. We resorted to sending out five people with buckets to shovel large pails of sand from the local Parisian playgrounds.
